New Residential Bulk Waste and Residential Bulk Yard Waste Pick-up

Effective January 1, 2023

In addition to the twice weekly curbside pick-up of Waste and Refuse, the City will provide Residential Bulk Waste and Residential Bulk Yard Waste pick-ups for Residential Units consisting of one or two family units. A total of Twelve (12) pick-ups consisting of either Residential Bulk Waste or Residential Bulk Yard Waste per calendar year are included in the monthly fee paid by these Residential Units for Municipal Collection Services.

Guidelines

  1. Residential Bulk Waste. Discarded furniture, appliances with compressors removed, large machines, and other similar items with a weight greater than fifty (50) pounds and/or a volume greater than ninety to ninety-six (90-96) gallons, which is the size of a Polycart used for Municipal Collection Service.

  2. Residential Bulk Yard Waste. All tree trimmings, dead trees, or branches thereof, grass cuttings, garden trimmings, weeds and roots from which all dirt has been removed.
  • All Residential Bulk Waste pick-ups and Residential Bulk Yard Waste pick-ups must be pre-scheduled with the Department of Health and Sanitation.

  • No Residential Bulk Waste may be lawfully set out for pick-up more than forty-eight (48) hours before such scheduled pick-up.

  • No Residential Bulk Yard Waste may be lawfully set out for pick-up more than seven (7) days before such scheduled pick-up.

  • Maximum Load: All eligible Bulk Waste/Bulk Yard Waste pick-ups must be no greater than five (5) feet high by eight (8) feet long by five (5) feet wide.

  • Residential Bulk Waste and Residential Bulk Yard Waste shall not be co-mingled for any one pick-up.

  • Household wastes, such as food waste, bottles, wastepaper, cans, clothing, and general refuse shall not be comingled with Residential Bulk Waste.

  • Bulk Waste generated by contractors or other such persons performing work on the Residential Unit’s property for profit or personal gain and Construction Debris are not considered Bulk Waste eligible.

  • Residential Bulk Yard Waste must not consist of limbs or trunks that are longer than eight (8) feet or more than twelve (12) inches in diameter.

  • No Residential Bulk Waste or Residential Bulk Yard Waste pick-up will be provided unless the bulk waste originated from the residential unit requesting the pick-up and the unit must be occupied at the time the scheduling is set up for collection.

  • Vacant property where no monthly fee has been paid by a Residential Unit for Municipal Collection Service does not qualify residential special collections. Such pick-ups from vacant properties are subject to the fees that represent the cost to the City.
