City of Jackson, TN Receives Grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation for over $15,000

Jackson, Tenn. – The City of Jackson is pleased to announce it has received a $15,565.50 2026 Driving Mobility and Accessibility on Public Lands Grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF). Funded with major support from Toyota Motor North America, this grant will directly fund Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements to the central walkway at Conger Park.
Currently, a critical gap in accessible infrastructure prevents some visitors from fully enjoying Conger Park. Due to its proximity to an adjoining regional hospital, the park is a vital green space for patients, healthcare workers, and families seeking a place of respite. However, the existing pathways present mobility challenges.
The grant funding will be used to construct a new connective pathway linking the main parking area directly to the park's universal design trail. The updated infrastructure will feature a wide, slip-resistant surface engineered to accommodate visitors of all ages and physical abilities.
"Parks should be places of healing, comfort, and recreation for everyone in our community. This generous grant from NEEF and Toyota allows us to bridge a significant infrastructure gap at Conger Park. By creating a truly universal design trail, we are ensuring that all visitors, including patients and families from our neighboring hospital, can safely navigate and enjoy our public lands. We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and its direct impact on making Jackson a more inclusive city."
"This NEEF award accelerates our ongoing commitment to making our parks a space for all," said City of Jackson, TN Parks and Recreation Park Operations Manager Christi David. "With these funds, we are excited to expand ADA access at Conger Park so that every member of our community can safely and equitably enjoy our city's beautiful outdoor resources."
