The City of Jackson, TN Public Works Department prepares for severe weather
Posted on 04/02/2025

JACKSON, Tenn. – The City of Jackson, TN’s Public Works team is fully prepared for the severe weather expected later this evening and throughout the rest of the week, including the potential for tornadoes and significant flooding. In anticipation of heavy rainfall, the department has pre-staged barricades and "Road Closed" signs in areas that are known to flood during normal rain events.

Additionally, crews are ready with chainsaws and heavy equipment to clear any downed trees or debris that may block roadways and impact public safety. Public Works officials are closely monitoring conditions and remain on standby to respond as needed.

“We want to remind everyone of the serious dangers posed by flooded streets and downed trees, said Public Works Director Austin Clark. “Never attempt to drive or walk through floodwaters, as even a small amount of moving water can be life-threatening. If you see a road closure sign, it is there for your safety—please do not go around it.”

City officials urge residents to report blocked roads or storm damage so crews can respond as quickly as possible. Stay indoors during severe weather, have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts, and follow updates from local authorities for the latest information.
