City of Jackson Receives Multimodal Access Grant
Posted on 06/15/2021

JACKSON, Tenn. – TDOT announced today that the City of Jackson has been selected for a Multimodal Access Grant. The grant will provide high visibility crosswalks and pedestrian crossing signals at the intersection of North Parkway and Highland to assist pedestrians crossing 5-6 lanes of traffic, while also including necessary curb ramp updates to reach ADA compliance and 1,300 feet of new sidewalk.

“One of the first steps to creating better roads is to provide safer sidewalks and crosswalks for our pedestrians,” said Mayor Scott Conger, “This area has needed attention for a long time, and I’m glad we are able to provide our community with safe pedestrian access.”

The project route will connect a multi-family apartment complex to the Regional Health Department, financial institutions, grocery stores, and other retail businesses.
